Frequently Asked Questions |
Q. What type of wax do you use?
A. It depends on the condition of your paint. We use various types of waxes such as a Brazilian Carnauba finish wax; a polymer based creme wax; or a Teflon paint sealant for longer lasting protection. |
Q. How long does wax last?
A. Most waxes will last for up to 3 months, depending on the condition and color of your paint. It will also depend on whether the car is garaged or kept outside. |
Q. What is the difference between a regular wax and a teflon?
A. Regular wax, when applied to a car, lays on the surface of the paint. Teflon actually bonds itself to the paint by use of polymers. |
Q. What is oxidation?
A. Oxidation is a cloudy haze formed over the top surfaces of the car. Excessive exposure to the elements such as sunlight, heat, dirt, salt air and fallout will cause the paint to dry out, causing microscopic air pockets under the paint. It is recommended to keep wax on the car regularly to help to prevent oxidation from occurring. |
Q. How can oxidation be prevented?
A. By washing your car on a regular basis, and waxing at least every three months will drastically prolong the life of your paint. |
Q. Do you use a machine? I don't want swirl marks.
A. We apply the wax with an orbital waxer or by hand. The only machine that can make swirl marks, if used improperly, is a high speed buffer with compound. |
Q. What is clay used for?
A. Surface preparation clay removes fine surface contamination (fallout, brake dust, tree sap, bugs...). This should be done to every vehicle before wax is applied. |
Q. What is the difference between buffing and polishing?
A. Buffing is for vehicles that have either oxidation or scratches. Polishing is for vehicles with dried out paint. This will bring back depth and brilliance to paint. |
